Once I got some more knowledge about diabetes and what I could do about it, things began to change. Now most people know that diabetics need to stay away from sugar (duh!) but what many people either don't know or just choose to ignore is they have to cut back on the CARBS. That's where I was really getting in deep. Things such as potatoes, corn, pasta, rice, breads and even popcorn were part of my daily intake. Now I'm not claiming that the weight loss programs associated with the links page here are the only ones that have THE answer to all diabetic needs, for there are many good programs out there, but I will say that if you are SERIOUS about wanting to lose weight and willing to 'change' some bad habits for good ones, you WILL see an improvement in your health. It's what I call the DUH theory, Dump Unhealthy Habits. The first thing I had to do was retrain myself about food and shopping - which ones were good for me and which ones to avoid, like the ones I just mentioned. Does this mean I never eat them? - NO - but it does mean I don't eat them on a regular basis and I also now eat them in moderation. One thing you really need to ask yourself and research is the answer to the question of 'HOW did I become a diabetic?" In short, it was probably brought on my a long term consumption of fats, especially hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, like all margarines, Crisco, peanut butters and a thousand other products you probably unknowingly ingest it by. Good news is that your type II diabetes CAN possibly be reversed! First, your body needs a good cleansing and the only way to really do that is by fasting and drinking LOTS (2-3 liters per day) of good filtered water. (See the links at the bottom of this page for more info.) Start with a bowel detox (DeathStartHere). Begin to make your changes in what you eat and WHEN you eat. Do NOT eat anything within 4 hours of going to bed. Towards the end of the Bowel Detox (only take one bottle) order a bottle of Liver Cleanse from that same site. This will begin to cleanse and support your liver for a fast to allow it to do what it was designed for, cleanse your body of the stored toxins found in toxic fat in your body. Most people cringe at the word 'DIET' but if you will look at it as your own health rehabilitation plan, you will find yourself more encouraged to do the right things and avoid cheating. Now let me point out here that there is NO miracle program, NO silver bullet. You CAN lose weight but common sense has to come into play here in order for it to work. The weight did not get there over night and it's certain that it is not going away over night, but if you apply some changes and common sense, you will see results. In other words, don't do a 2 day juice fast and then go out and eat a stuffed crust double pepperoni pizza, double bacon cheeseburger with Jumbo size fries and super size chocolate shake the next. You won't lose weight that way! Eat 'healthy' I guess would be a better way to say it. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, preferably 'organic'. Over 1.2 BILLION pounds of pesticides are sprayed on American soils each year and guess who is eating it? The other part of this is EXERCISE. I personally work out on a Gazelle that you may buy at Walmart or online. Go do a brisk walk or whatever but get your heart rate up and let your body know it did some work! I started out at 10 min. every other day, which works out great, since I was such a whimp when it came to working out. If you work out on an empty stomach, you will see better results. Why on an empty stomach? Because if you work out after eating you're burning 'food' and carbs. When you're on an empty stomach, especially in the mornings, you're burning FAT, and that results in lost inches. By applying these type methods, I was able to come off ALL my diabetic meds in less than 90 days WITH my doctor's supervision and approval and periodic lab work. Disclaimer: NEVER stop taking your diabetic medications without your qualified health care provider's supervision. Your body will know when it's time to cut back or come off your meds but seek your qualified health care provider's supervision before doing so. If your doctor will not support you in trying to come of your meds naturally, fire them and find another one. There's no law saying that you have to keep a doctor you don't want.
